She had a point. If she followed his advice, he shouldn't be one to be trusted either. Everything was suddenly turned upside down, and Shoto didn't know what to do other than take this as one more challenge they needed to face, before becoming heroes. According to his own sayings, he wasn't supposed to trust Yaoyorozu either, but she was one of the few to haven't tricked him already. He'd choose to believe in her, and pay the price in case he had taken the wrong decision.

“ You are right. ” Quick-thinking as usual, she'd be. “ I suppose you shouldn't, but I wish you could make an exception. ” He knew he was asking for too much. “ If it matters, I can try this for you. ” He'd do anything, to earn her trust once again. Hesitantly, he took a sip of the drink. Eyebrows were furrowed, his nose wrinkled, before swallowing with difficulty what he had just tried. They had tainted it, after all. “ You shouldn't try this, ” he mumbled. Not that he could have faked this to make her believe him.

“ Yaoyorozu! Stop right there! ” The moment she was about to drink from her cup of tea, Shoto snatched it away from her hands. “ You said Ashido was here a minute ago, right? ” If only for a moment Yaoyorozu hadn’t been looking, Ashido could have added something to her drink. In a single day, Shoto had fallen for such tricks many times already. He wouldn’t let Yaoyorozu fall into the same traps. He’d protect her, from everyone if he had to. “Trust no one,” he warned, wearing a face to have gone through a very traumatic day. He couldn’t do this any longer. And it was only noon. “ Not even Iida can be trusted. ”

     “ Todo… Todoroki-san?! ” Surprise outlined her tone, but Momo’s reaction was considerably tame despite his sudden act. Eyes fell to the cup only recently snatched away. The surprise to her eyes should have been evident, but she was quick to shift her focus to Shoto with an attentive look of awe. Something about the way he was speaking caused her to tense. The wariness to his voice left her mind to wonder. Had their friends turned to some kind of temporary villains? Admittedly, Iida had performed one of the best villain acts among their class during training…

She paused then, attention returning to his features with dubious skepticism. “ Thank you for looking out for me. ” She acknowledged, but there was a hesitance to her tone. “ But can I trust you then? ”
